I want my old cat back!

Female cat approx 4 years old, usually delightfully aloof. She loves my daughter but rarely sits on anyone's knee and doesn't really like being stroked very much. We are just back from holiday and it's like we have an imposter! She disappeared for most of the week we were away. Friend who was feeding them said she only saw her once, whereas her brother greeted my friend twice a day and enjoyed being made a fuss of. All pretty usual behaviour for both of them. We didn't see female cat u til 2 days after we got back and now she is driving us mad! About 6am she starts miaowing really loudly outside our bedroom window (it's a bungalow) and scratching at the window trying to get in. They have a cat flap round the back of the house so it's not like she is locked out! If we let her in and take her through to kitchen & give her food she just goes out the cat flap and starts miaowing at our window again until we let her in and let her sleep on our bed!,, we have to give lots if petting before she'll settle. She has NEVER been allowed to sleep on beds before but I'm worried she'll annoy the neighbours if I leave her out there, also she is scratching my window!!! What can I do to get my aloof cat back because this is annoying! We have been on holiday before and she has never done this!

Has she been spayed? Some cats do have a change in personality, but it's usually because they're stressed or want to make changes at home, and they then start to be very demanding. She wants to be in your room and on your bed from the sound it. It's extremely hard to stop a cat getting what they want. Good luck.

Sounds like she feels she has been abandoned and now has security issues. I'd let her sleep on the bed and give her all the snuggles she needs, but that's just me.

I agree with Spartacus, if she wants to sleep on the bed I'd let her.
