The litter tray

Cats in hot weather

Cat is (has) moulting (sp?) I've brushed him (which he LOVES). Got rid of a lot of hair and it's noticeable how short it is now.

Leaving fresh water on a daily/twice daily basis.

Outdoor cat with access to plenty of shade.

Is there anything I need to do to help with the heat? Admittedly he seems fine (apart from being out more often) and his usual self so I may be worrying over nothing. But I'd hate if anything happened to him because I overlooked anything.

He's also started to bring home live (and 1 dead) baby birds. Is there anything I can do to stop that?

No he will be fine, don't worry .
We have 2 cats and a kitten and they prefer to be outside in the garden in this heat .
When I say kitten he's 10 months now but is still the baby .haha
I leave water out and they all sit on cushions in the garden and come in about 7 am to be fed then stay out till I get home from work at 7.
As long as you leave water out in a few bowls and I have been putting ice cubes in which they love they will be fine.
They find their own shade.

We lock him in at night because of the foxes. I've read cats rarely get killed by foxes but I'm taking no chances, plus we live in the the M25 cat killer area. He knows at 10pm it's bedtime lol

Also, he's taken to sleeping in the hall rather than his own double bed!

The cat, but there's been times I've been tempted to put DH in the hall 😂

If you have a wooden floor it's cooler for them .

I do but he sleeps on the mat! I might put some ice cubes in his water and an extra bowl outside just in case.

Yes put some ice cubes in his bowl as the water gets warm really quickly.
