Just that really. After lots of elderly cat problems, I took her again this evening, expecting another set of antibiotics, but never brought her home. She'd been happy as well, started eating more and enjoying the sun; but I had to agree with the vet. It was her time and the kindest thing to do. Today's issue wasn't going to go away and it would have caused her to be in pain. My dd is away on a trip - she'll be heartbroken when she returns.

I'm so sorry Flowers. You have done the right thing for her and gave her a lovely, long, happy life. I hope you and your DD will be able to find comfort soon.

I'm so sorry, you did the right thing though. You wouldn't have wanted her to suffer Flowers

Just Flowers for you OP, it's so sad when we have to let them go. It's often the kindest but the most absolutely hard decision,

Lots of hugs from me too Flowers my tom is 15 and I'm dreading the day when it comes. Had my other boy PTS at 10 about 5 years ago, as well as 2 pooches between then and now and it's the bloody worst. Doesn't seem to ever get easier with experience does it Sad

Our other puss (15) was lost two years back and it wasn't peaceful at all - very traumatic unfortunately and the poor dc witnessed it all. I think I was right to take the vet's advice. My dd will be devastated - she's on a residential this weekend. I couldn't prolong the cat's life when it was clear she'd suffer more.

We have one who's getting on too. It's hard when you lose them, but lots of happy memories looking back at our succession of lovely furry friends. Flowers

I'm sorry she's gone but like others have said it was the kindest thing to do. However, they do leave a huge gap behind Flowers

I'm so sorry.
We had to say goodbye today to my mothers 19 year old girl today. The vet came up and sent her to the Rainbow Bridge in the house, in our arms. We're both devastated, as I'm sure your DD will be.
This is the worst part of having pets who we love so much, the saying goodbye is the worst part.

I'm sorry and sending Flowers to everyone else who is feeling the same sadness. It has been very helpful to know that others understand how I'm feeling right now.

I have a 17 year old, and cherish every day with him because I know we won't have that much longer together. He was a rescue kitten - the rest of my life has changed completely since I adopted him in 2000 but he has been with me through everything. My first cat was PTS 3 years ago at the age of 15. Flowers to all who have lost their cats, whether old or young.

She is lovely. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm a vet (who owns an 18.5 yr Old cat) and I truly believe it's better to let them go rather than have them suffer.
Cats have a great life. They manipulate us humans into doing everything they want and then when things get tough we can let them go with a bit of dignity. I wish it was the same for us.
I always urge my clients to remember the good memories - they will never leave you. The sadness fades and those find memories are what is left. She will ALWAYS be a part of your life. Grieve now but those memories will make you smile in future. I have lost several pets over the years but I still think of them and smile. I hope you feel the same soon xx

Such a lovely face. OP I am so sorry. It is so hard to lose them but giving her a peaceful, painless ending after a long and happy life with you was the right thing to do. Be kind to yourself.Flowers
