The litter tray

Abandoned 1 week old kitten being taken in by foster cat

Hey everyone,

So I've had a couple of threads about my foster cat who has just had five babies, they are three weeks old today and are all doing really well and Mam has gone back to her chilled out cuddly self. So this afternoon we got a call saying that a one week old kitten had been found abandoned and could we see if our foster cat would accept it.
The answer is yes she will, she sniffed it and licked it straight away and then let it feed off her. It's still early days but it now has the best chance of survival.

And of course, here is a pic

well they are all cuddled up in their box now so they seem fine with it. They were bopping it on the head when it was crying before but now it's had food and gone to sleep they are fine with it

I've honestly got so much respect for her. She's only a year old herself and she's already had a litter before this one, unfortunately they were all still born. She came to us all skin and bone and was so anxious to keep her babies safe. Over the past couple of weeks she's learnt to trust us and we've learnt to trust her. She looks after her babies so well and has such a lovely nature. She's had a horrible life and I'm so pleased we can give her some peace to raise her babies.
We've truly seen her at her worst and at her best and I just think she's amazing.
She's going to make someone a lovely pet.

Bless her though, I feel really sorry for her when she's feeding. I don't think I could cope tandom feeding six! Her face looks so fed up.

Awww 😻 I love your cat and kittens story. I'm so pleased she is doing so amazingly well. And how lovely that your foster is fostering!

I'm not even that keen on cats, but oh my goodness all these kitten threads are making me want one so badly! Well done to mummy cat, the picture of them all feeding is hilarious

She's swamped & they're all the same variety! Who's the daddy??

Report
SentientCushion · 07/06/2017 09:37

We have no idea who the daddy is because she came to us pregnant, but all the stray cats round ours seem to be black and white.

Are you going to keep all of them a kitten Sentient?

Report
SentientCushion · 07/06/2017 15:15

No we already have two cats and we want to be able to keep fostering. The more space we have the more we can help.

I need to come up with 6 names! Any ideas??

Ahhh this is just lovely, as are you.❤️ What do your own cats make of your foster cats and the kittens?

Report
SentientCushion · 07/06/2017 15:26

they haven't met, the foster family are in the spare room and my cats have the rest of the house. When we go into the foster room we make sure our cats are locked in the living room in case one of them escapes.

My cats definitely know something is up but they're not bothered because they are still getting spoilt.
