The litter tray

Cheeky Tom came in and helped himself!

I have a girl cat who is so sweet and a home body. She has been spaye. She goes into her tiny yard but no further, has a litter tray in the utility room but sometimes has a wee in the yard (bit strange?).

I routinely have three visiting male cats (unneutered) who come say hi to her. Two are obviously pets and are very vocal, EXTREMLY sometimes. It's really annoying. They prowl the yard yowling for her and wait on the garden wall to see if she will come out. She will not go out if they are there.the third cat is a very tatty wild looking guy with fur missing, scars and is obviously a stray. He startles quickly when he sees us but otherwise is very calm and lady cat is comfortable sitting in her yard if he's on the wall.

Lady cat always goes up to bed with DD at 10pm latest and tonight I was shocked to hear meowing from the kitchen/utility area. I went through a few mins later to check and tatty cat was in my house! He's stood there helping himself to her food bowl (lady cat is a grazer) and when I go into the utility room he has used her litter tray!! Well I hope it's the litter tray, it smells of cat wee and the light is broken! I calmly opened the back door saying "you don't live here" and he ran out 😂

Obviously he was hungry so I can't get mad at him for that but how can I stop all three cats coming in my yard (and house) all the bloody time?! I've tried water sprays and a kids supersoaker and they worked for a while but they always come back.

Ideas please?

Microchip cat flap. It will keep out the most determined visitors.

I don't have a catflap, he came in through the window. I left it open a couple of inches as it's a warm night and he appears to have nudged it open.

Girl cat gets on with him so could you consider adopting him?

He won't let me near him. I've tried before when he's been injured from a fight to try and get him medical attention but he won't let himself be handled. This is the first time he's even tried to come in the house (that I know of).

Well...I'd just put an extra bowl out...but I am a softie. I wouldn't chuck him out either.

I agree, I would just turn a blind eye and let him sneak in when he is hungry. If girl cat doesn't mind him I wouldn't be too bothered. If you could catch him you could take him to be neutered. It will save him from getting injured in more fights with others. And possibly getting run over as he prowls for ladies at night.

Its not him that's a bother really its the other two yowling day and night. They fight each other and the tatty one so I think that's why lady cat is wary of them. I don't mind him coming in for a snack if he's hungry but I think leaving a bowl outside may encourage the other two.

He needs help. If you feed him, he's yours. Let him come in and eventually he'll get close enough to you so that you can take him to the vet.

Bless him. I'd feed him too.

... and get a water pistol for the other two!

Leave the bowl inside then....by your other cat's bowl.

As a cat lover, if a cat chooses me I can't discourage!
