Leaking cat!

My cat seems to be leaking from a wound of some sort under his chin. I suspect he's gad a minor injury of some sort and scratched it making it worse and it's got infected and now it's draining horrible stuff. He's let me clean it and he doesn't seem ill, still eating and drinking etc but I know cats are very good at hiding illness. Do you think I need to get a vet to have a look tonight or can I just wait and see how he gets on? He gets very stressed going to the vet so I'd rather not if he'll be ok.

Neither of the cats have ever had any sort of wound before so I'm a bit clueless when it comes to this. I'm a dab hand at urine infections and cystitis though...

He will need a vet as he will likely need antibiotics. Worst case scenario he would need a small op to cut out necrotising tissue/clean the wound. If he seems ok in himself though it can probably wait till Monday.

Thanks. I thought he probably would need something. I'll keep a close eye on him. Why do cats and children only ever seen to get ill when it's out-of-hours services only?!

Keep an eye on him. Do not put dettol or any kind of ointment/antiseptic on it- it can kill cats. If he is sleepy, stops eating, drinking or starts drinking a lot, becomes lethargic, feels hot or it gets bigger take him straight to the vet. Otherwise it can wait until Monday. He may need a small op or otherwise, antibiotics. But do take him on Monday - infections can get into their blood and affect their kidneys.

Put some Sudocrem on til tomo. Pets at home do some great antiseptic cream. Our husky had a huge gouge on her head from trying to crawl under a fence. . It had scabbed over in 3 days!!

This happened to my cat. The vet said it was a strike from another cat, as that's the area of the body they attack first. He needed antibiotics for it.

Yes, I think he's probably had a bit of a scrap with his brother and come off worst. Thanks all, I'll get in touch with the vet if he seems at all ill and definitely by Monday at the latest.
