Other than ping pong balls / cat nip mice and the fishing rod thing what is a brilliant, absorbing toy for a cat?

It depends on the cat and how they are in the moment! In my experience, they can be fickle.

Mine likes:
Jolly Moggy catnip mice www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=1394&pf_id=8840&ptm_source=google&ptm_medium=shopping&ptm_campaign=negative_risk_8840&gclid=CLWewLDX99MCFaSw7QodUZcHPg

Da Bird (her favourite) <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/Bird-Interactive-Feather-Cat-Toy/dp/B000F9JJJE?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">//www.amazon.co.uk/Bird-Interactive-Feather-Cat-Toy/dp/B000F9JJJE?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

Sweet wrappers balled up and thrown on the floor.

Sometimes she seems to just play with dust.

She also likes to eat daddy long legses.

I don't know if I have a weird cat, but my boy loves playing with mice that have rattles in. He will bring them to you to throw for him over and over and over and over and over again. My cat absolutely adores playing fetch!

Jellybeans and marbles here. Seriously, my 2 will chase them round for hours. It's become the norm to trip over marbles in places you don't expect them.

Da bird. Even my neighbours cat who is elderly and more gentleman like than the other cats... Came skidding across the drive like a kitten to play with it much to his owners amusement who then bought him one Grin

Boy cat has sisal mice, he prefers the white one but some times plays with the blue one. The pink one gets ignored :o He kills them with his back legs.

Bella likes the fluffy mcdonalds toys, especially the white one from the Pets movie. She also has a very soft red mouse with a long tail and she sits with it the tail in her mouth just swinging it from side to side.

Silver likes the laser pen and anything on a stick which can be dragged about. Coco prefers to catch live flying things such as flies and wasps. She will spend all day trying to catch one if one gets in the house.

Ozzy loves his tunnel. He likes to dive in it. A paper bag has the same rustly diveyness but he can't get out the other end!

Those little wire twist ties! My nutter with play with those for hours and hours.

Troy loved his squeaky bouncy mousey from Pets at Home. I would put it in a drawer at night and when my alarm went off in the morning he would rush into my bedroom and would look at the drawer expectantly. If I asked him what he wanted he would meow until I gave it to him so he could kill it.

Mine has lots of actual toys but loves nothing quite as much as a length of leftover washing line. No fishing rod toy gets chased with more enthusiasm than the bit of washing line. Hmm My mum's cat also favours washing line.

Brilliant suggestions. Thank you 😊

I'm sort of looking for things that don't need me to be involved.

Off to google more but like the look of da bird

Bloody cotton buds. She opens the drawer to help herself to them.

She also has one of these which she inherited from pil's boring cat who won't play with anything. fetch.co.uk/catit-senses-super-roller-circuit-349799011?gclid=CKvlh7vm99MCFW217QodrGQL8w

1.The printer - nothing better than sitting on the output tray, watching the paper going in and out, until it's all jammed up inside!

  1. Grapes - cat footballs

  1. Grape stalks

  1. Squishy balls (from Amazon) - walk round with them in their mouth like prey, all day long. Carry them upstairs to chase around all night!

Expectant Ollie!
The rings from the neck of plastic milk bottles go down well.
Cellophane ( in this house anyway)
Those plastic toothpick things with dental floss accross the bottom

Oh Kitten is also a fan of the Catit Senses Super Roller Circuit - keeps his interes a few times a day.

He also really likes a puzzle board.

BorpCat1 likes the Mysterious Box of Intrigue and Delight, which is a small box with holes cut in each side to stick her paw in, some treats to fish out, and obstacles (balls, bits of cardboard) to make it difficult.

BorpKitten goes mad for strips of paper.
