Life after losing our boy

Just before Easter we had our much loved cat PTS. He was a failed foster, and it was the first time I have ever seen my DP cry. I vowed never to get another cat as it felt as though someone had ripped out my heart and stamped on it.

We take delivery of a little foster boy later this week. We didn't even last a month - our house was meant to be ruled by cats! I really do hope he is a cuddly sort. He has FIV and is very small for his age. I think LunaCat would be looking down approvingly.

That's great news to hear. When we lose our furry friends, it's almost impossible to imagine having another one in our lives, but they're so hard to resist. In my case, they just show up, almost literally on the door step.

LunaCat will be keeping her beedy eye on proceedings from up high!

How old is your new foster?

I read on another cat group that the cats you lose send another to you. We clearly have proven to be good cat slaves.

FosterCat is around 18 months old. Rescued from an overcrowded home and quite unwell when he was first taken in. The lady I spoke to clearly has something of a soft spot for him, and was delighted that we wanted to take on a sickly cat with a terminal disease. Apparently lots of fosterers avoid the old and the sick cats. He needs some TLC and fattening up before they consider rehoming him permanently.

I'm considering documenting the journey this time. Either with a Facebook and Instagram page or with a blog Smile

Good luck. If it's true that the cats you lose send you new kitties then old girl and her son had a sense of humour. Two tortie torments. Who I love to bits!!

I think they like to make your life as entertaining as possible, and wouldn't send you anything you couldn't handle Wink

Haha I love the terrors. Such fun. Here's one
of them tormenting our puppy on a walk. Wolfhound vs kitten. Wolfhound lose! Shock

He sounds super lovely. Bet you can't wait to get him on board. Would be great to see a pic when he arrives.

So yesterday I got an emergency call about a cat in a bad way who needed nursing and recovery. The little FIV+ boy has been taken to a different fostered, and we collected this little girl last night. She is 15, with raging hyperthyroidism (now medicated). Poor little thing is skin and bone - but she is beautiful, and the gentlest cat I've ever met.
