Just that really. I know different people think differently and it's all age dependent as well.

Two days, but she has dry food and eats when she wants so it's just a matter of filling up two bowls

A day as in am to pm. He gets worried otherwise Hmm

Same as Ollivander. We're going to see Lady Gaga in October and I've booked the cat sitter as we'll be out from mid afternoon until late Blush

am to pm here too. Never longer. I would worry. My Mum can pop round if I get delayed.
But Sparklingcat doesn't have a catflap into the house, only into the garage where she has a bed. She does have a cat house in the garden too.

The longest Leroy has gone is 8 hours. I have a wonderful best friend though, who practically moves in to look after him if we're away.

To be honest just a trip to the supermarket has him sat in the window looking abandoned so he'd probably be fine. Just likes to make us feel bad. It works.

Sparklingcat goes over the road and complains very loudly to my neighbour if I go out for a while. Blush

8 hours or so. If I'm going to be longer someone will stay with them.

We've had to leave the home for 2 weeks for ds's hospital treatment. Cats had fresh food and waste twice a day from a friend popping in and they could come and go as they please, they spend some daytimes in various friendly neighbours homes when we're at work anyway so just vetoed on doing that for company

Carried on not vetoed on

Depends on the cat, but one night is almost always fine. A middle aged sensible cat probably okay for 2.

I would leave him for 24 hrs if I had to - he has dried food and water and a cat flap. My neighbour is normally available to look after him though so I would only leave him overnight if I was stuck.

We go away for weekend and leave ours. Someone does pop in though to top up his food during that time.

Summer holidays we go away for 2 weeks and leave him. Again, someone pops in and feeds him daily.

He does have a cat flap though so can go in and out of the house as he pleases.

2 nights completely alone, like Jamie our cat doesn't overeat so we can leave her with lots of dry food and she's fine. Any longer and someone would pop in to sort her out.

I hate leaving our cat Blush I am with him all day normally, but if we go away for a night and the neighbour feeds him, he wees in the spare room Confused if I remember to close the door, he won't wee elsewhere, so I don't quite understand why! (He has a cat flap and normally goes outside, so I can only assume this is some kind of dirty protest at being left alone, but not so dirty as to do it in the main part of the house Grin)

11 hours when I go to work. I have a flexible job so work from home or go home before going out so Livcat is not on her own for too long if I am eating out in the evening etc.

Glosscat is a very outdoorsy cat. So we've left for a few days and just asked neighbours to pop in to check on him.

It's not unusual for us not to see him for a few days. He's a rescue cat and he came from a home where he had been badly abused and I get the impression he likes to be free and do what he wants now!

I think he sees us as the cuddle, stroke and food facilitators.

The longest we've left her is three weeks while we were on holiday. She has a cat flap, all of the downstairs to play in plus a cat flap so she can amuse herself outside. Neighbour pops in to feed her and give her a stroke. She's fine, although usually pretty pleased to see us when we get back.

24 hours. They are also grazers so I only have to leave plenty of food out. Any longer and I get a cat sitter.

Overnight but I would want to be back mid morning. During the day 6/7 hours. We haven't got a cat flap. I couldn't bear the thought of her being out and she injures herself and I'm not there.

Overnight on his own with a large supply of dry food and an automatic feeder for wet. 2 weeks with next door (who he knows v well and regularly visits) visiting each day for feeding/cuddles. He is well known in the neighbourhood and gets tonnes of mollycoddling/laps to snuggle on when we're not there so I don't worry too much. He does sulk a little when we get back but it doesn't last long (and only once a year max).

My kitten is left for 8/9 hours 4 days a week now he is 6 months. I had my mum and dad come stay with me when he was younger, plus I made sure I only went into the office a couple days a week until quite recently.

I kinda feel bad but then he has loads to do, gets a really good play session in the morning and when I get home. Has access to my bed at night but normally has a play/'mad half hour' quite late about 11 or 12 with me, then I go to bed and he plays in my room, then does his own stuff all night and comes onto me for a snuggle about 6am.

When I am home he sleeps pretty solidly from 12 until 8pm so basically he is only on his 'own own' from 8.30 to 12! I had to wake him up yesterday to get him into the garden for a bit in the light! He was soooooooo sleepy.

We would sometimes leave our cat completely on his own from a Saturday morning and we'd be back Sunday evening. We make sure he's got enough water and use an automatic feeder. He's fine although is happy to see us again when we get back!

I've left mine for 24 hours, but friend popped in to check up on them. Other than that I occasionally leave them for 12 hours when I go to see my aunt, who lives a couple of hours drive away. They all holler at me when I walk through the door - how very dare you leave us woman!

Booboo27 · 06/04/2017 09:50

I've left mine in the house for a week before but my mum came over for 2 hours every day to clean his litter tray and give him fresh food, water and some attention. He also has a cat flap so was able to go outside.
He was perfectly happy when I got back but I wouldn't do this regularly. Maybe just once or twice maximum a year.
If I was leaving him on his own completely then 2 nights would be the longest and I wouldn't feel very happy about doing that (it would have to be for a very good reason such as an unexpected death in the family). I'd feel cruel leaving him with a pooey litter tray and food/water that isn't fresh
