The litter tray

Cat runs- has anyone had one built?

Our street has become much busier recently due to some re-routing of other streets, and one of our cats was run over a few months ago.

The other cat is now an indoor cat but is pretty ragey about that. We're thinking of getting a lean-to type cat run built off our house, so she can go in and out via the flap and french doors. Something like this www.cat-runs.co.uk/page3.php?view=productListPage&category=6

Has anyone got one, and was it success or did puss turn their nose up at it?

We plan to move somewhere quieter in a few years but can't afford that at the moment. Don't really care about the look of the garden and idea is we would dismantle it when selling and make sure EA was aware of that.

We had one built that covered our patio area, it's got a gate in that opens on to the lawn. There a four shelves, two look over the fence so she sits on those a lot looking over to the others gardens. I've put some toys out and trying to cultivate some catnip. Now the days and evenings are milder she spends a lot of time out there, especially when the sun hits the shelves! I think it looks nicer than cat proofing the fence and it was cheaper. Gives me peace of mind, we live by a busy road and I would be distraught if she got knocked down. She loves it.

Oh that's really helpful, thank you. Did you go with a compay or get a joiner to do something bespoke for you?

It was a company called Woodenart. Woodenart.org.uk They make to your own design and measurements. Very happy with service and the enclosure. Solid and well made.

I think it's a great idea, I'd definitely have one if I lived near a busy road. My son has two pedigree cats which he doesn't want stolen so he has built one in his new garden. He's a carpenter.

I have one which my very lovely OH and SFIL built. I had it done because somewhere in my village is an evil evil person who shoots bb guns and uses cats for practise. It comes off my back door and covers up two thirds of my patio. There is a cheap bean bag in there for a bed, some shelves and two chairs where occasionally I get to sit if I am allowed.

My two cats love it and often stay out there all day.
