The litter tray

She's adorable and cute and all that but she's driving me mad.

We have to lock our bedroom doors at night so she doesn't come in but anywhere between 5am - 6am she will sit outside out door meowing to come in. She'll scratch at the door, has lifted the carpet and doesn't stop.

Every few days she'll leave us alone so we think we've cracked it but then starts again. I'm exhausted!

I make sure there is enough food down before we go to bed, she has a clean litter tray. She just wants attention which I am not happy to provide at that time of day!

I've not had this with any other cat I've owned, they've always settled at out feet and got up when we do.

Any suggestions?

She's a kitten not a fully grown cat. Lonely/hungry/full of beans/ all of these and more. Cats are crepuscular which means most active at dawn and dusk. I'd suggest more cat trees and/or toys.
An evil trick is what I did by having a sheet of tin foil outside the bedroom door. It freaked my cat out until she got revenge (quite quickly) by ignoring it and scratching anyway. Same with Hoover.
I'd suggest your kitten needs more toys or places to clamber over. Puzzle toys or food bowl that opens on a timer might help.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yep have the food bowl timer. She also has an older cat to play with (they get on very well). Both cats love balls, we have various ping pong balls dotted all over the house.

I'll look at getting more toys.

Awww she's lonely, I just gave in and I'm covered in cats at night to preserve my carpet. When they grow up they sleep properly at night.

I'd be more than happy to let her in if she did what the others do/did which is lie at out feet or snuggled up. But she doesn't. She paws, licks and scratches and meows, very loudly. I think she's trying to kill me through lack of sleep!

TBH at that age mine was in the kitchen from 2300 until I got up it was the only way.

Now she's 8 months she still goes to
Bed in the kitchen but I leave the door open a crack and my bedroom and she comes in at 5 sleeps til 6 and then claws me until I get up to feed her.

It will pass!

Glad it's not just me. I don't really want to lock her away, but it sounds like the only option.

If you want sleep it is. She'll grow out of it. Mine sleeps on the kitchen chair. Leave her a tunnel in there and a cube with her food and tray she will be fine i promise
