The litter tray

Kittens obsessed with the great outdoors?

I left our two kittens out for the first time on Saturday after escape proofing the garden. They will eventually be able to climb the fences but are a bit small for now. This morning I showed one that the cat flap door could be moved and approximately 3.5 seconds later they had both nailed it and have been in and out since then.

Should I be making sure they are in and locking the flap when I go out for the time being?

Is it ok for them to be out as much as they want when I'm around excluding the night time? They are vaccinated and neutered.

They will be loving it outside!! I would lock them in when I went out for now (for you own mh!!) and see how they mange with that routine. . Let them out hungry on a morning and regularly shout of them back in for treats. . Stops them going too far if they think a treat is never too many minutes away!! In a couple of months they should be OK to leave the flap open.

It's such a lovely & entertaining time when they discover the cat flap.

Thanks, sticking to keeping the flap locked when I'm out for now then.

They were very confused yesterday evening when it was locked and they kept launching themselves at it. They're sticking writhing 10ft of the back door when they go out at the moment but seem to be really enjoying it.
