My cat is refusing to eat the food I've given her which she has had previously and eaten quite happily, how long do I wait before giving in and putting out something different??

As long as it takes you to drive to the shop & buy Sheba.

You will always lose. Accept it.

I relented and gave in, when she was doing a sad eyed licking her lips routine.
This morning my partner fed her with some food she had refused last week but strangely enough managed to eat it.
I'd love to know what goes through her mind when she decides not to eat something that she's eaten happily before.

I rather think it would be a 'Ha Ha - that'll show her'. wink

Random inconsistency is the key to keeping us on our toes.

Apparently cats instinctively look for variety in their diet; it's an evolutionary nutritional advantage. Switch her to something else and then switch back and she'll be fine.

That's what I find puzzling because I have about 4 different varieties so I do ring the changes and it's all good quality food too!

Do you have a rigid routine for food?

Trustyourself2 Sat 25-Feb-17 22:10:32

Fluffycloudland77 so true.

onthelevel, then I'm afraid you just have to look for more varieties of food until you find the one she likes. My head is wrecked with the whole food dilemma I think the cat aisle is the most pondered aisle in the supermarket.

cozietoesie Sat 25-Feb-17 22:35:41

I actually think it's the most 'grabbed' aisle in the supermarket. ( Oh, I'll try one of these, and a selection of these, and a box or two of these..........) grin

But what I don't get is that one day she will eat some food quite happily and then another day won't even attempt to eat it, I just think she's spoilt and clearly takes me for a mug!

cozietoesie Sun 26-Feb-17 13:45:09

Far be it from me to comment on that! grin

If the cap fits......

We're all treated unfairly.
