Bathing old cat!

I've never bathed Miss Cat. She's always been an ardent groomer and has kept herself impeccably clean.
However, she's getting on a bit and the last couple of days, she's stunk like an uncleaned litter box
She's extremely affectionate but the stink is really unpleasant when she's trying to snuggle up on us!

Can I bath her? She isn't particularly scared of water but has never had more than her paws immersed!

Watching with interest. My old tabby misses bits in his grooming. I think you should get her checked by a vet too if you haven't already done that. She could be in pain.

Is it her bum end only, or all of her?
If bottom, could you not just clean her up with kitchen roll or wipes? Surely a bath would be quite traumatising ?

Would she take being brushed gently with a soft brush? That might help to get rid of any grot and knots in her fur and make the rest of the grooming easier for her to do.

I'm not sure an old cat would appreciate a bath. Maybe a good brush and a once over with pet wipes?

Have you had her checked by a vet recently? Even an old cat shouldn't stink. Do you groom her?

Personally, I wouldn't. That's an awful lot of fur to dry off for an older girl.

I think I'd have a go on her 'personal' bits with some cat cleaning wipes together with a programme of regular grooming. Oh - and vet her. There's a reason why she's suddenly stinky and, just maybe, the vet might be able to help her.

Ok, pet wipes are a great idea. She has a vet appointment booked for next Friday anyway so I'll ask her advice.
She does love a good brush though so that and the wipes should help.

Yes, brushing and wet wipes sound good. I have a smelly old boy and I brush him often and sometimes have to wash his rear end.
