On Monday the cleaner left the door open and my 9 month old kitten Rainbow got out. I've tried knocking on doors, flyers calling vets etc but there's no sight of her. I hope that someone has taken her in, she's an exceptionally beautiful little thing.

Meanwhile her sister is really upset. They weren't that close but I guess she's missing cat company. She's not eating a huge amount, is very vocal, super clingy. I'm trying my best to comfort her (she's currently lying on my chest under the duvet!).

Is there anything I can do for the remaining kitten? Would Feliway help to soothe her? My dp mentioned getting another kitten as a playmate. Would this help? I'm thinking it may be too soon. Thanks

I would be spending all my available time trying to find her.

Is she microchipped?
Had she been outside before? From the wording of your OP it sounds as if you were keeping them as indoor cats??

Yes they're indoor cats. They've been outside for short periods, only in our very cat proof garden. They've been microchipped.

Obviously we are trying to find her, but short of having a magic wand and a crystal ball there's not much I can do.

There's still hope that she will be found. I agree that it's far too soon to get another kitten. I think you should carry on looking for her and giving her sister lots of attention. Not much else you can do really Flowers

Try putting your cat in garden as maybe if Rainbow is nearby she may hear the other cat miaowing? Just a thought.

I'm presuming you've knocked on neighbours doors to see if she's got into their garage, sheds etc.

Thanks Emma. God this is miserable. Last night we were accosted and my DP almost punched because someone thought we were burglars when we were looking over fences in the voids at the back of our houses. I'm crossing my fingers for a call.

Thanks Empress, that's s good idea. Yes I've knocked on the whole street and the adjoining ones. I've also recruited (paid) some of the local teenagers to knock again.

Presumably you've notified the microchip company? You could also put up posters in the local area and vets, contact your local rescue centres, and register with Animal Search
