Hey I've lurked so long now I've probably forgot all the short words for stuff so appologies. Probably a bit of a ramble coming but just need to talk I guess feel devestated.
Not sure if anyone will remember me or the missy but she was found, or she found us as the case appeared in may 2012. She appeared in the garden heavily pregnant, I was 39 weeks pregnant and no cats rescues would take her. Finances were tight at the time and the cat rescues couldn't offer any help but with the help of some amazing mn's we all managed to get her sorted through the end of the pregnancy, ultrasound and the birth of 5 babies! We loved her and she loved us. Her babies grew then found new homes but she's been with us ever since. Her and my son are best buddies she sleeps with him, plays with him. I've had a daughter now too and she's amazing with her too. She used to lay next to her while she was feeding and stroke her head.
Something happened to her before christmas and she really changed was scared and skittish around us it lasted a few days so we kept her in until she was more like herself. We then let her out and she didn't come back for 3 weeks! I presumed she had been cat napped because she's lovely and doesn't have a collar anyone would love her! She came back one night and was starving and skinny. We was going to keep her in but she got out the next night and went missing for another week. We noticed she had turned into a really messy eater on the one night she was back and then again last night even skinner.
I sat and watched her and she couldn't open her mouth to eat was just licking things all over the place. We've taken her to he vets today and shes had several broken ribs that have started healing which ties into the timing of her behaviour changing. She jaw is 'fused' shut it won't open. She's been starving for over a month and we've not known , she's got something wrong with her eyes, cataract in one and something strange happening with the other possibly brain related? The vet said she isn't sure and is going to call in the next two days as she's never experienced anything like it.
I know I've only seen her three times in the last month but I feel awful how didn't I pick up on it when she came in that one night? How did I let her slip out without noticing. Why didn't I take her to the vets when she started acting strange.
Im devestated and I have no idea what to tell my son when his he from school I'm sure she's going to have to be pts. I'm fighting back tears in the vets I'm a grown woman with children and I'm crying over the stray cat I didnt even want to keep to start with. Kind of felt I should come and put it on here as I doubt people want to hear about it irl and I also kind of feel like we owe our time with her to all those mn's at the start so if any of those are still around they would know too :( :(
