PetPlan Insurance

I read a thread today about PetPlan making excuses not to pay out on claims, and it's made me wonder if I should renew with them. MCat's renewal is due at the end of the month, and the premium's gone up about £30, despite making no claims. And I did a search, and they seem to have a lot of bad reviews.

Does anyone have experience on claiming with them?

Or any recommendations on ins. companies who they've had actual experience of paying out?

We've had no problems with Petplan paying out. The only thing they refused to cover was a sharps bin we need for used syringes. We weren't sure if they'd pay out for the diabetes as it could have been linked to a previous condition but all ok (except we've reached our limit).

I have had no problems getting them to pay out, on a variety of things.

Ah, thanks for that. Got myself in a tiswas over nothing. I'd hate anything to happen to my boys, and the thought of wrangling over the 'phone with them at a hideous time with gives me the cold sweats.

They paid out for Harry last year without any problems even though the vet warned us there was a good chance they wouldn't. We've got a high excess because of his age but at least we got most of the fees paid.

We have been with Petplan for 4 years now for both our boys. Never had a problem with them paying out and premiums have hardly gone up since we took the policy out. To be honest I have never come across anyone who had a bad word to say about them apart from the fact they are not cheap - but then I always think you get what you pay for!
