Vomity cat

My cats are the kind that vomit recreationally so not usually worried when it happens but this seems a bit unusual. One has vomited two days in a row in the same manner. Woken up, vomited, then run around (mostly) dry heaving for a bit. He's usually a dramatic vomiter but it doesn't normally go on this long. It's pretty much whole biscuits coming up and he's seemed fine in between episodes, sleeping, playing and cuddling as normal. If it were the other cat I wouldn't be concerned (she vomits more easily). At what point should I suspect something is wrong?

Hmmm - wondering what the latest is on your cat. One of our cats was sick on and off for a few days and the outcome hasn't been great (understatement of the century). Don't want to scare you, but was wondering if you have got him checked out?

Thanks for the post. He's seemed fine. I caught him eating a secret stash of cat biscuits, they have a raised bowl and some had fallen behind and underneath. He was a little sick after that but has been fine since I cleaned everything up, so I'm presuming it was that. I'm pretty sure he's okay but if he seems off at all I'll get him checked out.

maybe worry when there are other signs of weight loss, dehydration or general decline in condition?

So glad he's fine. That is wonderful news. Turns out our lovely cat has kidney failure. Looking like she won't make it - currently on tenterhooks. I wish I'd acted sooner when she was first sick…..

Sorry to hear that, @NotdeadyetBoing. Is she home or staying at the vet's? Are you sure that earlier treatment would have helped? Maybe it would have stressed her out and gained little.

Have you wormed the cats recently? - I have cats that vomit if they have worms

She has made the most astonishing recovery. Whole family dancing for joy. After a week when we thought we would lose her and she was on a drip - her kidney function appears to be normal. Our vet was preparing us for the worst so this is like a miracle. For us - the cause turned out to be that she had a tiny piece of lego stuck in her intestine. Had caused digestive problems - leading to dehydration and nausea. All that caused the kidney failure. They operated to get the piece of lego out, but warned us that the op could kill her as she was so weak. Looks like she is a one in a million cat and defied the odds.
