Torn ear - is there anything I should do?

My cat has just come home with a freshly torn (and bleeding) ear.

What, if anything can I do? He seems fine otherwise.

salt water to clean, vet if it starts to look infected, otherwise leave well alone.

How bad? A nick or is his ear half off?

Usually I bathe it and mutter about my vet bills.

Thanks weeds. Have bathed it and had a closer look. It's about 8mm with around 2-3 mm not joining up at the edge. He'll have a lovely tatty bit to remind him of this encounter forever sad silly boy!!

My ginger boy also has a torn ear which sounds similar. It healed perfectly on its own, with a bit of salt water when I could hold him down

Definitely watch for infection though, cats don't half abscess quickly.

Will do, thank you all. He's had some of his Christmas cat milk now so hopefully feeling a bit better about things smile

My cat had a slightly torn ear. He ran upstairs, jumped on the white bedding I had just put on and shook his head angry. I bathed his ear with water and used an antiseptic wipe. Oh and I changed the bloody sheets.
