Will be leaving us today. She has declined tremendously over the past week. She is 16 or 17 years old, we think. My husband found her as a kitten on some tough city streets. I became her cat mummy when I married dh ten years ago. She is tiny but had a will of iron. Goodbye my warrior princess. I hope you will visit me in my dreams....

What a sweetie. I'm sorry for your loss secret, it's so hard. The most difficult part of responsible pet ownership. No matter how much we know we are doing the right thing, it still really hurts. Flowers to you and yours.

Oh bless that cat. I'm so sorry. She was lucky to have such a loving family. I'm sure she will visit you often in your dreams. (The memories never leave.)
I'm a sappy type. But have you heard of the rainbow bridge? It gives me comfort. Flowers

Thank you all so much. She really is my cat and I can say without false modesty that she loved me most. Please tell me about the rainbow bridge...I am praying that she will find her way to the Mother very quickly and be well and happy.

SVJAA, thank you so much for the explanation. This is exactly my hope for her! My heart hurts so badly. I have been talking to her but she doesn't even seem to know I'm there.

We lost our beautiful boy in May (car) and I honestly wasn't prepared for how much it was going to hurt. I'm so sorry that this is happening, I'm sure she knows you love her very much xx

I love the idea that they aren't "gone". They are just over the bridge. It's total heaven there and we will see them again.

What a sweet old girl. She's had a good life with you and now you are offering her the final kindness you can.

I love the thought of Rainbow Bridge. You all are so kind to support me through this. The tears keep coming even though I know it is the right and best thing to do. She is just a wee little cat but she is so loved by me.

It's the worst thing to do but

Better to be a week early than a day too late.

The tears are because you love her. You love her enough to do the right thing for her. Even though you never want to let her go. Even though it's Christmas and you want to keep her for just one.
You love her enough to do what she needs you to do. The last and greatest act of love.

I'm sorry. What a sad time for you both. You and DH gave her many years of life, she wouldn't have survived alone on the streets a a kitten.

Lovely photograph of her all cosied up in blankets.

Wolfiefan and everyone on this thread.. I am so grateful you all understand. I know it is the right thing to do as she had become so ill. You are right, it is best thing for her but the hardest for me to let her go.

blubs

As others have said, you are doing the very last act of love for her. Sending you huge hugs and headbutts from my last 2 furbabies xxxx

She always slept in bed with me. My dh works overnight, so she and I would get into bed at night. She liked to lie on my shoulder and watch me MN. Sometimes, our bigger male cats tried to come aboard and she would chase them off.

I lost my 19 year old girl last year. I'm actually tearing up a bit remembering her and seeing your old girl.

I am going to miss her terribly. She was such good company. I am going to hold her and gently snuggle her until it is time to leave.

Sounds like a plan

My dog was pts in 2013 because he had dementia and possible cancer. We didn't want to put him through invasive treatments with his dementia so we decided to let him go

His very last day was him being allowed to have a sleep in garden right in the middle of a patch of sunshine, followed by a rotassiere chicken bought just for him and chocolate buttons.
