Does your cat have a cat bed?

We bought a cat bed for our cat when we first got her 13 years ago. She ignored it and slept wherever the fancy took her. Eventually we got rid of it.

She has favourite sleeping places and she changes them up regularly. Her current one is on top of a board game box someone has left in the living room.

It doesn't look very cosy or comfortable for an elderly moggy so I thought I should buy her a proper bed.

If your cat has their own bed do they actually sleep in it?? Thanks.

I have three cats and three cat beds

One goes nuts for a cardboard box, I put something soft in the box - he took it out. He loves his box, when Amazon arrives he waits for everything to be remove and then sits in his new box.

One sleeps in their cat tree, just hangs about in it, like she owns the place she owns the place

And one will sit wherever I am, so currently curled up by feet on the sofa.

They will also sit on clean washing, towels and one likes the sink in the summer. They also strangely like their pet carriers but never when I want them to sit in them and visit the vets.

But never in the very beautiful very expensive fluffy cat beds I purchased them.

Your cat has already decided :)

We have several. Does she sleep on them? No!

My mum has an indoor Ragdoll , he has several beds and a cat tent and he uses all of them at different times of the year , he also sleeps on the settee in the conservatory and on armchairs in the lounge but he would never sleep in a box , infact he's the only cat I know who has no interest in boxes . He very occasionally goes on the beds .

Yes.

It's king size and has a pretty duvet cover on it.

It also happens to be the bed that we sleep in too. Funny that Grin

No. She has a lovely comfortable cat bed, but she sleeps on DD's railway layout!

I bought 3 cat beds for our kitten, a round one that was quite expensive, a cheap blue triangular affair and one shaped like a house. He sleeps on an ancient pillow we left on the shoe cupboard one day. It was meant for the bin but he got on it and claimed it.

I bought ours a bed, then a few weeks later donated it to the rescue centre where we got her from! She much prefers doorways, beds, or sofas. And stretching out. Grin

Thanks. Maybe I'll just leave her to choose her own spots then. She clearly knows best!

I think she actually prefers hard surfaces as it's always a box or table or wooden floor, never the soft furnishings- which is lucky given how much fur she sheds!

If she's getting on, maybe think about getting her something heated? (I think you can buy heat pads for cats.) It seems to be a comfort to old bones. Smile

Yes! 2 cats love their beds - Boy Cat has 2 radiator bed things that he alternates between, Scaredy Girl Cat has a massive plastic dog bed thing under the breakfast bar that is her No1 spot and a cardboard box with a blanket on an Ikea storage doodad at night when I turf her out of the kitchen.

Evil Girl Cat prefers to sleep on the actual radiator in winter and on chair arms in summer. She is too important for a cat bed Wink.

Right. So the 'sleeping in her bed' was just coincidence? Grin

Completely missed the older cat thing. Our old girl had arthritis. I bought her a whelping pad. Put it on the back of the sofa where she sat anyway but switched on for 10 mins and you could see her visibly relax. It was known as the heated butt warmer. If you don't want to switch on and off there are some you can microwave but awkward at would settle on it and of want to move so we can microwave her butt warmer!!

Our older cat loves her beds - she has 3

Young cat doesn't dare use them. He prefers the back of the sofa or DH's chest. Whichever is available.

Yes, he has a lovely fluffy bed as befits an elder states-moggy.

Doesn't use it very often although he did recently leave a dead rat down one side, which was good of him Hmm

Can usually be found hogging the human furniture and pulling blankets down which he then commandeers (woe betide you if you try to get it back when he's paying attention Grin )
