Lap preference

Anyone else have very fickle cats when it comes to laps?
I bring my boy in, have big cuddle, sit him on my lap, stroke him to get him settled, 2 seconds later, he looks longingly at DP and that's it, he off over to next lap, lying down, bunting his head against DP hand and purring like a good 'un!
Thankfully youngest girl has now claimed my lap, but there was a moment when it looked like both epwere going to squash onto DP lap.

You can't tell cats who they're to like. They decide. Grin

Hehe! Our Goof Boy is like this. Loves me and DS dearly because we rescued him and loved him and fed him. But Shock he ADORES DP! Cats are weird Grin.

Never ever acquire a cat on spec for a child by the way. You may feel up to explaining to a 9 year old why his cat prefers to sleep on his sister, but I reckon most people wouldn't. Smile

Mine are not fickle about laps. They are fickle about the where people are sitting! I thought they didn't like men as they wouldn't go anywhere near my dad. ( he always sits in a leather recliner) got him to sit on the sofa and they were all over him. Totally ignored my mum who was sat in the chair. They are usually all over her. I always thought their avoidance of my dad was because he call them 'puss' a title unfitted to their dignity.Grin

Now he's on the arm of the chair being aloof!
No pleasing some cats!

My lap is best. I've even tried swapping chairs but they still come to me. We even refer to it as "The Lap". One of them likes to paddle me while drooling.

One of our cats insists on spurning my perfectly good lap. she makes me sit with my feet up and sits on my ankles (holding on with claws) it's hugely uncomfortable, but it's the only "affectionate" contact she allows so I go with it. Luckily it leaves room on the actual lap for the other cat so all is good.

He's chosen me/my lap tonight, yeah a small victory, except he's making my legs really hot and now I need the toilet........
