The litter tray

How long can cats go with toilet

Dcat went missing Monday night and turned up yesterday evening limping badly. Took him to emergency vet who diagnosed fracture, given antibiotics and painkiller and told to keep him indoors. Vet said that his bladder felt fine but to keep eye on him and make sure he goes toilet. Dcat has eaten and drunk today but insists on sitting by door to be let out. I pick him up and put him on his tray but he is not interested (he hasn't used it since he was young). Is this a battle of wills that he won't toilet or do I need to worry that he does have problem with bladder. How long can he keep it in? If he doesn't go tonight should I take him back to vet tomorrow?

He will most likely go overnight sometime. If he doesn't you'll have to ring them.

But bedtime should signal to him that he's not going to be let out.
