Cat peeing on carpet

The real Mrsfluffytail is a 14 yo formerly indoor cat. We've moved to a house with a quiet garden and she seems to have settled into her new routine of heading outside twice a day to patrol.

We've caught her peeing in the garden a few times but have kept her litter tray and cleaned it regularly.

However, she has also taken to peeing on the dining room carpet. Last week I found her scraping on the wall like she does in her tray when she's finished.

Just arrived home to find she's pooped there as well as in her litter tray.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what is going on and what we can do to stop her?

Could you put the litter tray in the spot that she's been going?

You could also get her checked out for a urine infection - that can sometimes make them wee in the house.

Yes. I'd have her vet checked' if only to rule out a physical ailment. At 14, she's due a solid senior health check, or equivalent.

Have you found a good vet locally yet?

I would have her checked for idiopathic feline cystitis. My aging car started doing this at a wee touch younger than yours. We worried that it was stress as we had a toddler so the house was bedecked with feliway and she has cystophan supplements in her food.

We also keep multiple litter trays around and clean them fully at least once a day. She has access to clean water as well obviously.

Thanks for the advice- I've been trying to find insurance for her since we moved but nowhere seems to insure cats this age. Anyone know of a decent company that do?

I'll take her along to the vets next week to have her checked over.
