Natures Menu Raw

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 31/07/2016 14:02

I wasted my money bought Harry a box of Natures Menu raw nuggets. I can't find on the box how long it takes to defrost them, can't anyone help?

Thanks in advance

Were they brought frozen to the house, Pink?

I take them out about 2-3 hours before serving. Make sure they are on their own and not clumped together.

They usually defrost pretty quickly

Yes they were cozie.

Need, thanks for that. What's the best way to wean him onto them? Ideally I want him to have dry for breakfast and then either a pouch or raw for dinner. I can't see him eating raw (I'm not sure if he'll manage it as he hasn't got any fangs) but it's worth a try!

I'd just defrost them and put them in his bowl. He might not like them at first but you always have a pouch to fall back on.

The nuggets are actually really soft so no worry if he doesn't have any teeth. It's more pate texture than a meaty texture.

I just swapped toots straight on to them

She has about 8 nuggets mixed with two spoons of dried biscuits but you can feed them just on their own

Thanks again. I've got 18 nuggets (half his daily allowance) defrosting in a bowl. They don't look too bad, I'm not sure what I was expecting but at least they don't look disgusting!

I've got the pouch ready though!

I hope he enjoys them

Toots love them.

We are currently using Lily's kitchen but she's gone back to have terrible gas with it so as soon as they all used up ( 4 more days worth) we are changing again

I'll report back later! He likes every flavour of Natures Menu pouches so I'm hopeful...

(Famous last words!)

I certainly had no trouble switching to Nature's Menu - and I had been expecting it after 3/4 years on AGAIL. It doesn't seem to have palled either - although I'm rotating flavours.

Raw didn't go down well. He licked it then walked away and sat by the patio doors so, as he hadn't actually eaten anything, I let him out. He then sat on the patio and kept looking at me warily - until I waved a Natures Menu pouch at him! He came running in and needless to say the raw came up and the pouch took its place!

Ah well. Perseverance would probably pay off but NM pouches are pretty darned good so I wouldn't worry, personally, if he gets on fine with them. Smile

Bless him Grinwe are lucky in the respect that so far, Toots has not rejected anything

I really wanted him to come back in before he decided to go down the alley and sit in the front garden all night cozie! There's been far to many cats missing around here recently for me to take a chance. I'll be keeping the rest of the raw in the freezer so I may well try again!

Harry is a fussy little git Need! For years he would only eat James Wellbeloved duck biscuits, then we managed to get him to eat turkey as well. He finally started eating the fish biscuits when he had a faulty bag that contained duck and fish! He only ate wet food because he had to when he broke his jaw so we've been lucky with the NM up until now.

Maybe not buy any more at the moment, though? NM pouches are both convenient and good quality nutrition so I'd be happy enough to have him on those as his main nosh. Smile

Definitely not! Battersea were happy with all the pouches I donated but probably wouldn't appreciate raw!

I'm happy with Natures Menu - he likes the normal one and Country Hunter so plenty of variety for him. I've been trying to get him onto different biscuits but he's refused my latest efforts - he wouldn't even look at Canagan of Meowing Heads!

Well Seniorboy must have been on NM (mainly Country Hunter) for several months now and they're still proving very acceptable. That's a success to me. He also has cold meat for lunch and a 'pudding treat' in the early evening (this evening it was a spread out Lick E Lix sachet) so has a good variety of flavours. He seems content enough with his nosh. Smile
