Last saw cat 12 noon, rolls back in 6pm - two hours late for his vet appointment for his annual check and jabs. Had to rebook for Thursday. Did he somehow know? Grrrr!

They always know. We lock the cat flap the morning of any vet appointments!

Oops! That sounds quite typical. I'm sure they know.
I always keep ours in prior to V-E-T appointments as it's the sort of thing she'd do even though she doesn't usually go far.

I had an AWOL cat the other week when he was due for his vet appointment to get his boosters. I'd asked my teen to get the cat basket down from the attic & the old boy spotted it and disappeared out the cat flap.

The other cat, who's younger & not quite as smart, was due for boosters about the same time, so I managed to capture him & took him instead. He was most indignant.

The vet told me they regularly have kitty no-shows.

Yup, MCat did that to me the other week. And when I do manage to catch him (which involves me chasing him round the house, trying to throw a towel over him) he looks at me with big sad eyes.

Little Monsieur used to just stroll into his basket, but he's more suspicious now...

Yes, we lock down the entire house about an hour before we need to leave for vet or cattery, and then gradually shut off more and more rooms, luckily ours never stray far from house or garden and are fond of Dreamies. Still normally ends up with me chasing them round the open plan parts of the house which includes the stairs, they go up, I follow, they run along the landing, through the bannisters and back down again behind me.
