Cat with gunky eyes and D&V

Hi all,

I noticed late yesterday evening that my lovely old puss has gunky eyes - a pale cream discharge. I wiped it away but it's come back. He also had a runnyish poo overnight and was sick this morning, but has been ravenously hungry ever since (although I've not fed him any more than normal just in case).

He's not been sick since and seems absolutely fine in himself, not pawing at his eyes or anything. In fact he's sitting next to me kneading his blanket and purring.

Any ideas what it might be? If his eyes aren't any better by the time I get home from work tomorrow I'll take him to the vet.
