I got home early afternoon and cat came through cat flap looking like she'd had a fright; wide eyes pupils dilated. Then I thought she looked a bit wobbly so put her by her food and she ate a little. She then started walking in circles and seemed a bit out of sorts and I realised she was having a hypo so gave her some honey. Was scary to see and I'm so glad I came home when I did.
I spoke to vet and have been monitoring her blood glucose which has increased ok. Got to check a couple more times today, no insulin tonight and we have an appointment first thing.
Just needed to write it down as it was quite a stressful afternoon and trying to get the blood wasn't easy! She seems fine now if a bit pissed off with me trying to get her blood.

Oh bless. That must have been so scary for you. Hoping that appointment goes well.

It was. I'm so pleased I got home when I did! She's now lying on me purring when I should be running DD's bath.

DD can bathe tomorrow. Kitty cuddles most important right now.

Hypos are really scary. Our diabetic cat only had a few but it was awful to see her so distressed. Sadly, no longer with us but she lived with diabetes and daily insulin injections for about 8 years.

How on earth do you do a blood sugar on a cat?

We have a glucometer and test strips (like you use on humans). You have several failed attempts resulting in clean duvet cover being blood splatteredget blood from an ear, I use the needles we have for insulin injections, put it on test strip and hey presto. Vet today said you could try from paw pads but that was impossible as my cat suddenly became an octopus.
