The litter tray

My cat has been missing for 9 days

My cat has been missing for 9 days now. She has been known to disappear for a day or two quite often but never this long.

She is almost 13. I fear the worst now, my little girl is very upset. We have put leaflets through neighbours letterboxes asking them to check their sheds and garages. She is a slim cat anyway and couldn't afford not to eat this long if she is trapped somewhere.
She doesn't have a collar but is microchipped. I feel v sad. I am a lone parent and she usually sits with me in the evenings when the kids have gone to bed.
We have walked around the green spaces around our street looking for her to no avail. 😔

Sad

Please don't give up hope, yet. Most cats are apparently very close to home - hidden or trapped. Please keep asking round.

Have you phoned local vets/ rescues?

Any vacant properties nearby? One of ours got shut in recently.
Walk around. Call and listen. You will hear an answer if nearby.
As a kid we lost one for quite a bit longer. She returned. Fingers crossed.

Try going out after dark as you might be able to see her eyes and it's quieter if she's hiding because she's frightened.

That's a really good point - you could take a torch out and shine it low down in the bushes, or in cracks and crevices (by sheds etc.)

I have phoned vets and contacted cats protection. I have posted on a couple of local missing pet social media sites. I have leafleted about 35 houses on. My street then my printer broke. Will print more leaflets as printer working again. I have registered her a missing with microchip company.

It's tricky to go out after dark as I'm a single parent and no one to leave kids with. there are lots of little parks in our area two just on our street will keep searching.

Have you checked IN your house? Hiding behind drawers in the bed? At the back of a cupboard etc,.?

I will check but only a little house, but she can't get in house unless we let her in cat flap is on out only as she is a bit of a hunter and kept bringing things in via the cat flap. She was last seen going out after her breakfast

I know exactly how you feel. Our boy disappears for 15 days last summer. It's so worrying but he just trundled back in shouting for food. She's hopefully just gone hunting and is enjoying the warm weather. Keeping fingers crossed for you x
