The litter tray

Greedy MCat/Butchers Classic

Some life events have happened, which affect MCat who I can only describe as a sensitive brute. When he's upset, he's prone to comfort eating.

He used to eat his food in a very sedate, slow manner. Both cats were leaving most of their Cosma/Applaws, and funds dictated I try them on a cheaper brand. They're never staving, because there's always a full bowl of Applaws biscuits for them to graze on, fresh water replaced a couple of times a day.

Well, MCat's gone mental for Butchers Classic, and literally inhales it. Poor little Monsieur isn't an alpha cat, so lets MCat eat his after he's gobbled his own food.

Both cats are at their correct weight, according to the vet (apparently Little Monsieur is the higher end for a Devon), but it makes me sad that LM is missing out on a food he enjoys.

What to do? Leave them to it?

My cats love the Butchers as well, to be honest I think it's quite good quality for the price (compared with Felix et al.)

Could you try a slow bowl for your fast eater? Or feed them in different places/at different times?

We used to feed our cats separately and stand over them.

This meant two on the kitchen floor, one on the kitchen worktop and one on the dining room table.

We had a Garfield.

Runs off to check out the slow down bowls!

If I stay in the kitchen to keep a stern eye on proceedings, Little Monsieur gets distracted and starts doing that bending about like a banana thing.

Could try separate rooms, but Little M hates closed doors, he gets suspicious that something more exciting is on the other side, so his food would be left for MCat to eat at his leisure. Unusual, because Devons are supposed to be a greedy food orientated breed. And his breeder told us he once ate part of a pizza box, because it had pizza grease on it.
