Still mourning.

I think several years on I'm still mourning, we had 2 cats when I was growing up, both became 'mine' as in they favoured me. One died in 2009 as a result of a car accident aged 11, her mother died in 2014 for bowel cancer aged 17.

Their birthdays were Feb 2nd and Feb 25th (today) on these days I get incredibly angry and emotional. I didn't realise the 2nd was the 2nd, lost track of time and dates and was still incredibly angry and emotional, than felt worse because I forgot. It seems like it's hard coded into me now.

Today I have been really snapping at everyone, felt miserable and very teary - even though today DH had a long awaited job offer, which we've been waiting months for, so I should feel over the moon.

Does anyone else get like this with lost pets?

Yep, you're not alone. And it's hard to talk about 'cause 99% of people tend to think "it's only an animal fgs." You're sort of allowed a short period to be upset and then you're expected to get over it.

I have no answers, but you're not alone. flowers

I can still cry about a dog who has been dead for 14 years! And my 19 yr old cat who died two years ago.

Tbh I can cry thinking about life without my twenty year old puss cat - we know we are on borrowed time and all I have to do is start thinking about it.

I get upset on specific dates, sometimes without knowing, but maybe because I would always do something, new collar or a few extra treats but always something.

I feel bad for saying it but I do have favorites, we have 10 cats and 2 dogs. have my big boy cat George and my Westie Bonnie (Boo), and I can't bare the thought of being without them. I cried my eyes out on Boo's birthday because she turned 10. I've made myself cry just trying to type that- Obviously I love all the others too. Sometimes I wonder what I have let myself in for.

No way they are just animals, they are part of the family!

Tomorrow it will be exactly one month since my furry baby died. I used to get upset at the thought of being without him too. The reality is very very painful for me sad
