Clingy cats and new baby.....how to keep the baby safe?

I've got two cats and we're hoping to add a baby to our family very soon.

One of the cats is VERY affectionate which is lovely...however she wants to rub around your face, snuggle against your face and fall asleep curled up to your face and neck. Very cute!

This particular cat is pretty much a housecat (her own choice, she seems to think she's too precious for the cold, dirty outdoors) so how do I prevent her from curling up to the baby's face during daytime baby naps?

I don't want to put her outside or in a different room all the time as she'll be very distressed. Is there some kind of travel cot that has a top or a cat net?

PS. Night time isn't a problem as the cats aren't allowed in the bedrooms anyway

You can get cat nets for prams, so that might work for a moses basket.

But in a lot of cases the cat just tries to sleep on top of the cat net. Shut the door to room baby while baby is asleep. It is only temporary. Or put baby to nap in cot upstairs.

I might have to try a cat net and see how it goes as I should be in the same room as sleeping baby and she'll go nuts if she's shut out!

I guess if I nip to the loo or make a drink I'll take the cat with me (she follows me around the house anyway so not difficult!)

I had this problem with our cat / baby. I couldn't leave them together in a room. It was absolutely exhausting to be honest, I wouldn't recommend it. I had one instance when the cat jumped straight in the moses basket which was on a stand when the baby was asleep. The cat did not land on the baby but could of easily. I had no option but to shut the doors. The cat will have to adapt quite a bit when the baby arrives. They hate the crying. The cat will need a safe and quiet baby free place in the house even more so if he / she doesn't venture out.

Buy a decoy Moses basket, put a hot water bottle under the blanket.

We have a very loving cat and a cat who is resolutely indifferent but will have a snuggle when the mood takes him.

We don't allow the cats in the bedroom anymore, since our baby came along. During the day I'm with her all the time so it's never an issue. Just separate the cats from where the baby is sleeping.

She's just getting to the age where she understand that they are also living creatures. The loving ca is very interested in her, likes to sit next to us on the couch and doesn't mind her attempts to play gently, even when she gets a bit grabby. I trust my cats implicitly but I'd never leave them alone with her unsupervised.
