Wet cat food

Harry has always eaten James Wellbeloved dried food but, since having his teeth out and jaw wired, we've obviously had to switch him to wet food. At the moment he's on James Wellbeloved Senior pouches but, to be honest, we can't really afford to keep him on it and need to find something cheaper.

Butchers seems to get good reviews but they don't seem to do a senior version. Is that a problem? He's never been on senior food before but I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for reasonably priced, good quality wet food?

I use aldi pate food and he really likes it. I don't really bother with this senior food.

Senior feed is meant to have a slightly different make up to regular cat food. After one of our cats had a blocked bladder and was at the vets for 10 days we had to do a lot of research into what food provides what. They are all pretty much the same if you look at the labels, so it really depends on your cats taste. I would personally go for a senior food for a cat age 9 or 10.

Thanks for your replies. I'll have a look at the Aldi pate as he likes the pate from the vet - I'm not sure if it's the flavour or the texture but I'm having to ration it! In an ideal world I'd like to keep him on the James Wellbeloved wet but it's going to cost us £55-£60 a month and there's no way we can afford it, especially if the insurance doesn't pay out for his vets fees.

My two boys love Lidl's pouches. They loathe senior food of any description and refuse to eat it, cheerfully letting the dog get it instead! They are 13. They are also keen on Tesco and Asda's own cheap pouches, too and seem to be doing fine on those. I do give them dry food as well.

I've been shopping today and have a box of Wainwrights pouches (adult as senior was a lot more expensive), some Butchers fish selection tins and a pack of soft biscuits (not for now, but in case he can have them later on). Fingers crossed something meets his requirements!

I don't think it's a problem that there isn't a senior version. All mine get fed Butchers, from the kittens to the geriatrics, and all seem fine on it.

I feed my three cats Butchers classic tinned food. They all love it and have had no problems. I can't feed one of them dry food as he gets urinary problems then. Butchers is cheap and good, grain free I think. I buy it from asda, Tesco or Sainsburys, you can order it from P@H but it's never have it in store.

We've just given him one of the Wainwrights tuna pouches and he hasn't come up for air yet! I'm planning on getting him on the Butchers but at the moment I don't mind what he eats as long as he's eating something.

Harry is refusing all wet food apart from the Wainwrights tuna. We've left the other food down but he's just ignoring it. Is it OK for him to have the tuna every day? It's a proper complete wet cat food so I'm presuming it's OK but I seem to remember tuna is supposed to be bad for cats. He's having 2-3 pouches a day depending on how much he eats.
