Henceforth he shall be known as FatCatSlim* having reached his target weight of 6.4kg. In July he was about 7.3kg and it's been a hard slog with me being hardline about measuring his food and ignoring his piteous miaows.

He is celebrating with a small pile of Dreamies smile

* he can make music with SoupDoggyDogg

Very impressed that you managed to exert any kind of control over a cat!

<applauds Soup>

Gosh where is he? He is so thin I cannot see him?

Having successfully dieted a cat, I will move on to the easier task of World Peace smile

I can only assume that his second family moved away as in the early days he only lost a pathetic amount each month. He went through a "do not feed me" collar every week for about 2 months.

I was a little surprised when the vet said not to let him lose any more.

SoupDragon Fri 15-Jan-16 16:55:28

There are no before and after shots as he never really looked fat - it was all carried underneath so from above he looked slender. He is a long, tall cat so carried the weight well...

Like me then soupdragon. Bet you can teach that biwi a trick or two - she can move onto pawcamp from Boot camp.

Thank gawd for that, i thought someone was actually crowing about the death of their cat then <cynical old bird> smile

Congratulations, world peace really will be small fry after this grin

My resting 'bitch face' always has the vet stuttering 'he's a big boy, but errrr he's ok, just doesn't want to get any bigger' when Jake comes off the scales so i've not had to face the nightmare that i imagine a dieting cat to be <shudder> smile

NarcyCow Fri 15-Jan-16 18:04:07

6.4kg is an okay weight for a cat?! Good grief, he must be huge (and gloriously cuddly grin )

Ours are 4kg and 3kg.

AwkwardSquad Fri 15-Jan-16 18:14:58

Well done! We had to put our cat on a diet so I share your pain. FatAwkwardCat is now ReasonablySvelteAwkwardCat grin

SoupDragon Fri 15-Jan-16 18:30:59

Narcycow he is a very big moggy! His (late) housemate was a teeny tiny ginger tabby weighing in at 3kg. I think this is where his problems started - he ate far more of the food than she did!

SoupDragon Fri 15-Jan-16 18:32:36

Oh, and he's no longer cuddly - I can feel ribs! (Which is as it should be according to the vet)

I will be working hard to make sure I never have to restrict his food so much again.

hugoagogo Fri 15-Jan-16 18:37:02

Aww that is the cutest pic!

Hooray for fatcat's terrific weight losssmile

dun1urkin Fri 15-Jan-16 18:37:12

I've come on to make a not-so-stealthy boast about my DCat who has lost 50% of his body weight (over years and years, maybe 10).
He was enormously overweight when we got him, over 10kg. He's now 5.4kg. Fortunately for us he's a scaredy cat and hasn't ever been begging round the neighbours.
He is a magnificent beast, who doesn't need a tummy tuck, no not at all grin

SoupDragon Fri 15-Jan-16 18:56:00

Now that is an impressive weight loss!

BibiBlocksberg Fri 15-Jan-16 19:00:53

dunLurkin - does he have that 'swinging fold' thing going on when walking? I had one like that, no tummy tucks there either though smile

That pic is adorable OP, looks like they are plotting & the ginger one is whispering in the other cats ear.

I can feel a caption comp coming on? smile

BoxofSnails Fri 15-Jan-16 19:08:17

What a gorgeous cat. What breed of cat is he? Am not that knowledgeable about these things sorry.
I slightly overfed crazycat when she came home from the RSPCA as a scrap of fur and bone. She's evened out now. Must have been so hard to ignore the I'm-so-deprived-I-need-feeding-NOW miaowing!

dun1urkin Fri 15-Jan-16 19:27:53

Yep, the swinging flap. He's not remotely self concious of it. A real role model grin

dun1urkin Fri 15-Jan-16 19:30:45

My much diminished cat

Wolfiefan Fri 15-Jan-16 19:31:30

OMG. Cutest cats ever.
Well done fatcatslim. A shadow of your former self!

dun1urkin Fri 15-Jan-16 19:34:04

Soup that is an exceptionally cute picture. Our dearly departed other DCat and the ex-fattie basically ignored each other at all times.

SoupDragon Fri 15-Jan-16 21:13:34

Another lovely not so fat cat smile FatCatSlim has a slight hanging under belly now too!

Both FatCatSlim and the late SoupKitten are/were bog standard moggies and often curled up together like Yin and Yang.

grin at Pawcamp!

I often think that herding cats would be easier than managing people on Bootcamp
