The litter tray

cat start pissing indoors

weve moved and am keeping him indoors, but despite having a litter tray, he is pissing everywhere!!!!

In every other respect he seems to be settling in really well. This is very odd behaviour for him and i'm worried but the fact that its cooincided with moving just points to it being stress although he still seems the same chilled kitty.

any ideas cat lovers?

It is most likely stress, but might be worth ruling out a urine infection or other medical problem.

Maybe get a feliway/adaptil diffuser - it releases a calming pheremone that is produced by female cats after giving birth. It is a plug in like the air fresheners. You can get it from your vet and pets at home, i think.

Make sure you wash up after her with biological washing powder and when dry, dab with meths - this will stop the cat returning to the same spot due to being able to smell it.

Where is he doing it? And is it a new new house? (eg new carpets, furniture etc etc.)

Have you got the plug ins? Dilution is key. Lots of fuss and calm play in the affected areas is ment to help as is confinement to a small area of the house for a month or so! Good luck. My little tinker has gone from up to 20 times a day to once every nearly 20 days in a year!

up against things, like sofa, spraying - whereas in the garden he will squat. so it looks like marking and therefore stress related, but like i say, not seeming in the least stressed.

Was already considering the pheremone thingy, not used before but heard good results anecdotally

thanks for hint on urine infection will get that checked too.

no, not new new house
