The litter tray

My cat never shuts up!

I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice.

I've always had cats and love them. One that I have at the moment is the talkiest, noisiest cat I've ever met.
He never stops. Whether he's in, he's out, he's on the sofa, he's on my bed, sitting with me in the shed when I have a cigarette.. It just goes on and on. Talking back to him doesn't work, cuddling him doesn't work, ignoring him doesn't work.

Does anyone know why he might be doing this? He's about 18 months old and neutered, but he's only been doing this for the last 6 months.

Thanks Smile

I've mostly had Siamese so I'm used to it. They insist on conducting a general discourse all the time - how their day has been, the temperature/weather, the state of the Chinese economy, how well they've just used their tray etc etc etc........

I answer everything they say - I swear I could compete at international level in delivering appropriate Unh Huhs and Really?s. Are you sure he's not expressing unhappiness though ? Some cats are just mouthy (when The Lodger came to live with us, I couldn't become used to how quiet he was) but sometimes there's a definite message. (Usually a complaint.) That depends on how well you know your cat though.

He's definitely not Siamese! I've just taken a pic of the handsome devil for you.

And he's not complaining either - maybe when he wants to come in after going outside - but it's like he is having a conversation. It's so strange, partly because he hasn't always done it!

My cat never shuts up!

My cat is a black and white moggy and also suffers from verbal diarrhoea. She says hello to me 20 times when I come home from, and every time I go into the kitchen explains to me about the level in her food bowl. I tell her she will not get any more food until what is in there is finished. When she does finish it the nagging is extreme. Then when I do put more food in off she goes through the catflap

Well a poster on this board a few years back had some half Siamese kittens ( they definitely were because she had their Mum who was a full Siamese (and a little hussy)) and there wasn't a single colour point between them - they were all black and white if I recall.

(He is a handsome lad whatever his breeding. Smile)

It sounds as if you've got a mouthy one. Smile

It's probably a sign of his love for you - does he do this with other people?

Yep, he does it with everyone! He must be just chatty then. I do like the idea that he's showing love, I must admit Grin

He is a very handsome boy! I reckon he has got a bit of Siamese there somewhere. We have a 6 month old black and white cat who is very chatty, craves human contact and is embracing 'be more dog' to the hilt. Very different to other black and white cats I've had. His face is very pointed and he has very long gangly back legs too.
