Probably for the last time. She is nearly 19, has knackered kidneys, and a problem with her thyroid.

In the past week she just looks unhappy.

I'm in tears just typing this Sad

Flowers It's such a hard time. There's nothing anyone can do or say to make it easier, but I wish you all the best and would like to give you a (((hug))) too.

I had to do the same thing a few months back for my boy, he had been such a good cat. I feel for you, but i am sure you know that the time has come. My boy was struggle ng to breathe properly and his life was getting harder day by day. By doing this you are being selfless and by keeping him alive but with no quality of life wouldnt be fair.
It is the hardest thing though xxxxx

Thank you all so much. Most of my friends don't have cats (or any pets), so they just don't get it.

We have just buried her in the garden. Wrapped in ds's old pj's. She only weighed 2.2kg.

She had a lovely life, but I just have to let go when it was obvious that she was in not happy and in discomfort.

Despite the fact we have 2 other cats, the house feels very empty without her. I got her when she was 8 weeks old, in June 1997.

I need Brew

Notso Flowers and Brew for you. Unfortunately, I think we are going to have to deal with the same thing in the near future.

I'm so sorry. We lost our 19 year old girl in July. The house was so empty without her. They are part of your family.
Be kind to yourself. Eventually you will be able to think of all the happy years you gave her and smile.

would you put up a photo of her? I would love to see your grand old girl Flowers

Did she have any funny quirks or favourite spots to sleep?

So sorry Flowers 19 is a very good age and no doubt she had a very happy life. Sounds like you did the right thing for her.

I took this last Saturday. She's asleep on her blanket (I had to buy her one the same as mine as she loved it so much) with a heated throw underneath. She was really happy here. Warm and purring.

This is how I try to remember her.

When she was younger she sometimes sat on the sofa back behind me and would groom my hair for me. She must have thought I was a large cat!

Oh bless her, she's the spit of ours -- who also came to us aged 8 weeks in June 1997! We had her littermate too till the age of 17.

It was clearly a great year for black cats.

Bless you, she will never be forgotten.
We said goodbye to my beautiful 18 year old friend last year, even now I ask if she had had her dinner or if anyone has seen her.
She was a real life bag puss.
I love our new kittens but they will never replacer her in my heart.
Much love to your family. X

Black cats are the best (sorry to any cat owners who have cats of other colours) Smile

Anyway, I need to try to stop thinking about her for a bit. My eyes are feeling sore and I think I need to go to bed.
