Cat Scared of and Attacking Own Reflection

Just this, really - 12yo old lady has suddenly taken to spending the evenings hissing, yowling and spitting at her own reflection in the window. It would be fine, but her attacks are a bit random and I jumped so much last night that I dropped a big dish & nearly lost a toe Shock

There are no cats out there terrorising her in the dark - our neighbours had two that used to attack her (well, one was young and wanted to play, but she didn't see it that way) but they moved out a month ago. It's not dementia, is it? Any ideas - the windows in question don't have curtains, unfortunately.

I really would see if you can get up some kind of curtains even if they're only temporary. Apart from anything else, think about your heat loss.

She might indeed be getting a bit crotchety in her senior years but are you absolutely sure that - say - some mean tom hasn't moved into the space vacatd by the previous neighbours' cats? Cats can usually make themselves scarce if they see a human and she may just have sporred something that you haven't.

When does all of this happen - usually at night?

Thanks cozie... and in the usual cat way of making owners look like they are the neurotic ones, she's now stopped it, as suddenly as it started 2 weeks ago.

Of course, she waited till I'd been out banging round the garden with a torch to see if indeed there were any other cats there... Thanks anyway!
