I've bathed it etc but it's a bit big.

Probably it's a bite or a scratch from fighting, if it's swollen it will probably need antibiotics if not just keep it clean with alcohol wipes, that's what the sspca man told me when our local stray got beat up!

Some of the ingredients in alcohol wipes can be irritant to cats, cooled salt water is the very best thing for keeping this kind of wound clean. Bites usually have four wounds this looks more like a scratch.
