Well, at the grand old age of 33 I've finally bought a house, with a garden! So last Sunday we went to the Cat Protection Society and reserved this beautiful girl! Her name is Pippa and she was found as a stray with her six kittens. She raised them at the shelter and they have all now been removed. Pippa has been neutered and is ready for a new home. She was very affectionate with us, but the staff said she can be quite nervous until she gets to know you. We will be getting her next week and I hope she will be happy with us Grin

I think we may need to grow her claws trimmed tho, judging by this photo. Grin She was just kneading the blanket as we were stroking her though.

So Pippa has been with us 3 (4?) weeks now and she's settling in great. Her favourite seems to be my DSD who is 11. P is still quite timid but getting better all the time.

Wolfiefan they are GORGEOUS!
Thanks Tough..... I love the tiny sprinkling of white hairs on her chest, which you can see if you look at the close up photo. She also has a tiny white patch on her underside towards her back legs, but it's only visible when she's in an un ladylike position!

Our little cat was found with her sisters in a box which has been taped up and abandoned! She was around 11 weeks old. Vet said they had betweeen 6-12 hours left to live! She got lucky with us! Or maybe we got lucky with her!

I'm really paranoid about letting her out, the CP said they advise four weeks before you usually let a cat out, but as Pippa was a stray and is very timid I should wait until I feel she is 100% settled. TBH I'm considering waiting until the spring...... Am I being precious over my PFBC???

Can you get a harness for her? RCat goes out on a harness so he can't leg it in the wrong direction if he gets spooked by something.

How old is she? To be honest I am still PFC about my 3rd cat and I worry about him when he's out (previous 2 cats both lived to 18 & went outside whenever they wanted, current cat is timid but seems streetwise)

Black cats are the best (apols to mad tabby kitten, currently making Old Sooty Girl's life that bit more... interesting)

We have just got a black cat from CPL too, she looks very like your Pippa! They advised keeping her in until the new year if possible.
Ours is quite a timid cat, and I'm home all the time anyway so I'm planning to let her out before feeding time and while I'm in the garden, I can't imagine she'll go far at first.
Spring I think may be a little bit PFBC!

She is beautiful, very majestic!

I have kept cats in for a lot longer than 4-6 weeks too because they were neglect/ abuse cases and still so timid. I wanted to be sure they felt happy and safe enough with me to want to return. Definitely not a bad idea to wait until she is bonded to you and trusts you before she goes outside.

In the meantime I used to pop mine outside in a dog crate, or take them on a harness so they could get used to the area without running off.
