Lulu has now been with us just over 3 weeks and is a little character, playing a lot, waking me up in the night for cuddles (you get the picture, I am her slave). She had been looking into our back yard through the window, so I began to let her into the yard before her breakfast & dinner for 30 mins to have a sniff about - there isn't much there really and she would come in when called for food.

So imagine if you will, Sunday morning just gone. 6am, I have awoken hungover and I make my way down to kitchen to get painkillers and tea before going back to bed. I let Lulu out into the yard while I was pottering around.

When I went to call her she was sitting on the top the wall (over 6ft) but there is a ladder leaning against it (the fool I am), as I called her, she spooked and jumped into neighbours back yard! I panicked!

Anyway - I am missing out a huge chunk of my panicky behaviour. Lulu scaled their back wall into the lane. An hour later after I had walked around hungover in my PJ's, I spot her. She came running into my arms for cuddles. I think she probably scared herself.

So, my question is... (eventually I know) Lulu was said to be housecat because she is so timid which suited us as I work FT. But I know feel she wants / needs outdoor space.

I don't know what to do, I could cat proof the back yard with netting sort it all out & get her an outdoor climbing tree & put a cat flap in back door OR I start letting her out. We live near some very busy roads and there aren't many gardens about. It would mean cat flap in back door and cat flap in back gate.

Any thoughts?

I like the sound of the cat proofed garden. Hiddenhome cat proofed her garden.

It's the best of both worlds.

I think I'm leaning towards that idea too Fluffy. We have brick walls surrounding the yard, I'm looking at how to secure some netting/mesh to brick walls.

I think this will get expensive. Talk about PFB's I am PFC (Precious First Cat) grin
