The litter tray

Are your cats as friendly with all the humans in your home?

Our old cat was very much DH's boy. We got him before the kids came along and he tolerated the girls and later would play and sit with them. Bruce loved playing, mostly with DH. Loved sitting next to people, mostly by DH.

Our new boy, Bailey, just doesn't seem to like DH much and it's weird. He has stolen the girl's hearts and is usually to be found curled up on their bed, their laps or playing with them. He occasionally likes to snuggle on/with me. But just won't go near DH much at all.

Very odd. Or not. Not helped by the fact that Bailey came to us less than 100% litter trained and his place of preferred elimination is in DH's corner of the room, or his wardrobe.

My cat only really likes my DS.

Even though I'm the one who feeds him Hmm

Cats are weird.

Our cat loves cuddles with both of us but is definitely more at home with just me. DP can be a bit 'bull in a china shop' and Dcat is very timid so that might be why.

It's funny - when me and DH are downstairs on the sofa, both boys like sitting on his outstretched legs. In bed, they both prefer to cuddle up with me. Peculiar little creatures.

Mine are tarts and flirt with everyone. But they will choose me to sit on and follow me around the house, wait for me outside the bathroom, come up with me to bed. One of them loves my dd so much, he purrs when he hears her, licks her face and will lie on her in bed with a look of happiness on his face. They go to dh for play fighting. I think mine got crossed with dogs somewhere.

Dboy cat has claimed me and dd2 as preferred slaves but he will only come when he wants to. Dgirl cat prefers dd1 and dh. She comes running to the door to greet them and is happy to be carried around like a baby by dd1. They both tolerate ds (especially if strokes are on offer) - he is 5 and although he is always gentle with them he is generally more energetic around the house.

Our cat can frequently be heard saying "I love mum the best" Grin

Our kitten loves me and DP but he will always be in the room I'm in. DP is a bit gutted because he feeds him every morning and then I get the most attention. Grin

I have 3 cats, one likes me, one likes no-one and the girl cat loves DS, although the one who likes me can often be found on DS bed too. They both seem to love his room.

Out of my 4 I am the favourite but for the two girls it's a bit more than that - my oldest girl is my cat & it was just me & her to start with. My littlest came to us at 6 weeks with a shocking background having been taken from mum too soon. At that time I had severe depression & was off work so we bonded over lots of cuddles in bed & she thinks I'm her mum. I think so too Grin

The dog loves DP the best though... Wink

It depends on the time of day, ArchieCat will blank me completely in the evenings, when he wants to sit and knead Dh belly. He's his absolute favourite person then. I may as well not exist. but, mornings belong to me, he sits on the back of my chair, and rubs his head on mine, and makes a fuss of me. And gives Dh filthy looks. Same everyday.

We are sort of equal. He plays rough and tumble with DH. More loving to me, with cheek rubs. Cries for us both, possibly more for his Dadda.

Ours loves dd (9) the best. She follows her around the house and waits outside her bedroom door in the morning waiting for her to get up. She hates being picked up, but makes an exception for her - she is allowed to carry her around for as long as she wants and in whatever position.

Bailey just isn't interested in going near DH. He will play with him if there's a shoelace etc around, but he won't go near him for cuddles.

He (the cat, not DH) spent most of yesterday afternoon asleep across my chest as I was on mnet. At one point he was doing that 'I'm sitting here with my eyes closed but not sleeping' thing, then dive-bombed into my cleavage as he nodded off. Grin

The other day, after I'd told DD2 (10) not to pick him up to cuddle him like a toy I had to eat my words after watching him sit at her feet, look up, miaow at her to pick him up, then purr and lick her chin. Soft sod.

He's currently snoozing on DD1(14)'s lap as she taps away writing her novel on her computer in her room.

He shares the love between the females in the house.

Suscat is a little cuddle monster and loves to be fussed. She loves to cuddle me in the mornings, and husband in the evenings. She lies in bed with me most mornings, but sits on his chest or legs in the evenings. She shouts at both of us. She will greet new people at the door, but isn't fussed about cuddling them after that. She is a bit suspicious.

The cats like me best as I mainly feed then. They avoid toddler DD like the plague as she hasn't learnt to be gentle yet and tends to pull tails.

Mine are also utter trollops, though Smackhead does like launching himself onto dh's chest from the Middle of the room. But mainly anyone who feeds them.
