I noticed fresh blood in the poo of one of our 7 month old cats last night. I phoned the out of hours vet who said it was probably colitis (maybe linked to coming to a new home 9 days ago, and vet visit last week causing stress) and to feed a bland diet of white fish, chicken and rice. Local shops were all closed as it was after 10pm, and I didn't have time to buy any food before leaving for work this morning, so I gave them fish fingers with the coating cut off this morning (the only half suitable thing I had), and bought chicken later so they have had poached chicken for tea.
The vet said if there is another poo with blood, or vomiting, to bring both cats in (I don't know which one had used the litter tray), but if everything seems normal, I don't know how long to continue the fish/chicken. And do I cook rice and mash with the fish/meat? I'm not sure it will be very tempting on its own!
