Moving 1 mile down the road, cat has never used a litter tray, how's this going to work?

You need to keep her in for three weeks. Just give her a tray and she will use it. Even feral cats, their first time in a house, automatically seem to know what it's for. You are definitely over-thinking this.

When we hospitalise cats who have never previously used a litter tray we put earth in the tray and then gradually mix over to litter.

We moved a 5 minute walk from our previous house. MCat terrified me by getting out the 1st morning, but came back over the wall, with a yowly hello to the rattle of the Dreamie packet. He's never tried to go back there. Like your cat, he's also very bonded to us.

Her 3 weeks house arrest will be easier for all of you if you get her some interactive toys like Flying Frenzy. Make sure removal men know not to go in the room you've put puss and her things in on moving in day (I put a notice on the door) and the same if you've got anyone coming in to do renovations.

Definitely keep her confined to one room for the duration of the upheavel of the move though.

And remember to notify to notify the microchip company of her new address.
