He never goes off for more than a couple as he likes his food :(

My neighbour popped round earlier because he hadn't been round (he likes her cat and they hang out together in her garden while I'm at work) and NO-ONE has see him for two days.

I am now seriously concerned. He's friendly, stupid, and a spectacularly large and striking Maine Coon, even with his current shaved patch.. very stealable and equally likely to get shut in a shed :(

Vibes that he reappears please.. I have a bad feeling about this, and I can't bear the thought of not knowing...

He'll saunter in very soon not understanding what all the fuss is.

One of our Burmese once took off for three days.
Ask neighbours to check sheds
Call local vets in case
Go out with favourite stinky food
Sending come home soon vibes.

Oh crap! I expect you're not getting much sleep.

I'm sure the big bruiser will saunter in, with the "and wot?" face. Doesn't stop you from worrying though. Maine Coons are renowned for being able to take care of themselves, aren't they.

No Medusa, don't give up hope it's early days according to Mumsnet! Watch him wander in in the next couple of days, saying, yes, what's the big deal?

Here's hoping that today is Obie's Coming Home Day.
How awful for you, really hope he's trying to find his way out of somebody's shed Thanks

I'm sorry you must be frantic. What's his usual stomping ground, have all the neighbours within it checked everywhere?

Walnutpie · 20/06/2015 09:08

Yes, come on Obie, we're waiting! Is he taking advantage of the fine weather to stretch his legs... Really hoping he's quietly sunbathing and listening to birdsong near a mouse nest..but realises it's home time now!

No sign of him... had neighbours knocking this morning to ask if he was back.. he is a very sociable boy and well loved. Ophie keeps looking for him and crying :(

Something has happened.. he's just not a wanderer..he has a circuit of about 6 houses. I'm terrified he's trapped somewhere or has got into the back of a car (he likes to snoop)TBH I'd rather find him run over than not know what has happened.

It's coming up to a year since Morph died, I just can't lose another :(

DH has gone to the vets to check if anyone has brought him in, though I think they'd check his chip if that were the case.. and he's very distinctive being such a huge hairy beasty, and I'm making posters :(

Thinking of you all Medusa. I'm quite upset by his absence, actually.

:( If you're on facebook and there's a local group for your area, maybe try posting on there. There are often posts about missing cats on ours and people are always concerned and keep an eye out - sometimes the information has led to the cat being found. Your boy cat sounds so distinctive hopefully someone must have seen him. Fingers crossed for you!

OP I've just posted this on another thread but will post here too. Please, please keep calling for him, even if you don't think he can hear you. Someone gave me that advice when our cat went missing a few months ago and it saved his life - he'd fallen into a dead space between two high walls and couldn't get out. DP and I went out several times a day calling his name and eventually he called back. We kept calling and he kept answering and that was how we were able to pinpoint where we was. If we hadn't done that he would be dead now, no question.

I know exactly how you are feeling and I'm so sorry. I really hope you get him back safe and well soon, just like we did Flowers

Op, I really feel for you as this has happened to me a few times with various cats. With the exception of one cat (run overSad) the others have all returned. I'm willing Obie home to you Flowers

They're all doing this at the moment . It's their age and the weather

Don't worry, I'll eat my hat if he doesn't come back. And I don't say that sort of thing lightly

Oh no Medusa! How worrying. There does seem to be something around the age of 7-12 months that has some cats just disappearing for a prolonged exploratory stroll. Fingers crossed this is all that has happened here. Keep checking, keep calling him. I know you will be frantic but it is still early days, try to stay hopeful.
