Old (dirty) cat advice

Hi I have inherited a 16/17 year old cat, I do not want it and have now put up with it for around 9 months. It now lives outside in a heated house because it sprayed my house till we were gagging coming in the door, When I go to feed it in the morning it tries to spray me, (disgusting) so every morning I am stressed out because of it Whilst I feel sorry the cat lost it's owner kit is ruining my home life,
It Poos all over the lawn meaning my two small children cant be let out the back garden without checking and we can't enjoy our garden due to cat poo everywhere (offered litter tray and refused) My marriage is at breaking point, I want to give him to cats protection but feel they will struggle massively to home him given how he is. So any suggestions?? Will a vet put an animal to slep if I ask for these reasons?

Is it neutered? If not that accounts for the spraying. Yes a vet would kill him for you, but I think I would try a cat charity as you never know, they may be able to find him a home. He might be better in a home without children for example.

Maybe see what the vet thinks. If he's otherwise healthy then he might find a home if you turn him over to a shelter, but if there are health issues making him unhappy then putting to sleep might be the kinder thing to do.

I was wondering if he was neutered too.

Have you tried a plug in Feliway in his kennel?

Can you make him an enclosed run in the garden? He'd probably be a bit lonely though. Does he enjoy human company?

Was he an outdoor cat in his previous home? If so, he may be suitable as a farm cat. Which as TCN says, a charity could pair him up with.

Poor old lad. Sad Probably missing his previous owner.

He is a sweet old boy but his old house stank of spray too so its not a new thing. He is neutered. He now lives outside but to be honest its the shitting on the kawn I cant deal with. Ruining my/our enjoyment of my home at a time that is difficult gor me/family. Vet has checked him over - very healthy. I just cant stand waking up to this everyday. And he meows really loudly alot- woke me up the other night. At my wits end what to do.

Has the vet done tests for overactive thyroid?

Poor lad. Sad

Hes not got an overactive thyroid (he's massive ) and not overeating at all. My old cat had that so I know the signs, besides the vet has seen hm. He's just not fitting in to our lives and I feel I need to rehome him but what organisation is best?

cats protection league.

I would avoid the RSPCA as I think they would PTS.
