The litter tray

Relatively new cat owner - this might be a stupid question!

My 9 month old cat started sneezing today. All the humans in the house are recovering from bad colds. Can cats catch colds/flu from humans? Apologies if this is a stupid question! He's up to date with all his jabs, but is there anything I can do to make him feel better if he does feel poorly? Thanks.

:) No they can't. Nor vice versa. However he can catch flu from other cats. The vaccines don't protect against it entirely, but generally make it less likely and, if they do catch it, less serious.

If he seems well in himself and is eating ok and doesn't have runny eyes then you probably don't need to do anything. If he does seem to feel ill then a trip to the vets will be necessary.

Thanks thecatneuterer, that's put my mind at rest. There aren't many other cats around, so that's good. He seems ok, maybe a bit lethargic. I'll keep an eye on him over the next 24 hours.

Ours has been left with a zombie grunt following what the vet suspects was herpes virus.

Just a heads up for you, if you decide to leave things.

That doesn't sound good chockbic, but I suppose if it doesn't bother him/her... (not sure how you'd tell, mind)

Oh yours is older, sorry missed that.

He's fine in himself. We always know where he is.

Yikes, slashy zombie-grunting Chock-kitten?

You really should watch the horror film Basement Jack.

It'll make you feel strangely proud.

Did I mention the farting?

We are truly blessed.
