Our 8month old ginger boy went out at 4pm and hasn't come back. He's only started going outside about 3 weeks ago and has always stayed close by and come back after about ten mins he has missed his mealtime

Take a tin of cat food, open it for the smell and take a spoon. Hit the can with the spoon whilst walking around calling him. This works 90 percent of the time for me.

Sorry me again... just to add, that ive moved many times with my two cats and everytime aroumd tge three week period, they disappear for a longer period, everytime. Ive figured it could be because theycare determining their boundaries and tend to go out further than usual and get a bit lost until they find the scent home again. Your cat will more than likely be back within the next two hours, almost guaranteed as based on your times that would almost match my cats times they do it.

My kitten disappeared for 2 days when about 6months old. She returned 4am, It was very traumatic for us, but she was fine. Hopefully yours will return soon. Get your neighbours to check sheds garages etc. Fingers crossed he will be home shortly.

Definitely go out with his food and treats. If he eats dry food shake the box like a loon until he hears you or tap the tin like TheHobbit says. Rustle his treats too.

Brilliant news. Wonder where the mud came from.

It seems like riverbank mud, really whiffs. So he's had a bit of a wash in the sink much to his disgust.

Ahh. Glad he's back. I've been watching this thread. We had the same thing with our little cat. It's so hard when they first go out, isn't it.

Glad to hear he's back! Mine disappeared for 3 days when he was 7 months old. I was beside myself with worry, couldn't sleep, kept bursting into tears, spent hours walking the streets & posting leaflets. Then he turned up as if he'd only been gone 5 minutes. We are still none the wiser as to where he had been. I'm still a bit on edge when he goes out in the evenings now!

Yay!

MCat's done this a couple of times, once he got shut in our neighbour's cellar. MKitten hasn't taken the leap over the wall yet. I'm dreading that day...

Thanks everyone

I let him out at 3pm as he was meowing pitifully at the back door, however it was short lived as the wind blew a leaf in his face and startled him and he ran back inside GrinGrin

They do get freaked out and skittish on windy days. Bless them.

Morph went missing for 7 weeks... and I called , walked the streets and cried for every single night.

I found him by complete fluke.. I just felt he wasn't dead, but went to our local garage about 1/2 a mile away for petrol and for no reason turned left out of it (not the right way) and he ran right out in front of me from the field across the road, into the bushes. Stopped the car and called and he came.. to my voice.. it was clear he didn't recognise me by sight. he was terribly thin and covered in rabbit fleas (we are rural) The vet thinks he was hit by a car and disorientated/brain damaged.

We kept him in for 3 months as we were moving house, and he gradually came round and never went more than 2 houses away ever again. He was so cuddly and daft, but never quite a normal cat after that...special needs moggy!

My lot are not allowed out after dark now, but I still worry every time they go out!
