..... is June according to my vet's website. If you have a cat/other animal who needs one maybe now is the time to check with your own vet to see whether they have any special deals on?

It's definitely worth getting them microchipped. Harry disappeared on Friday and knowing he was chipped made me more confident he'd be back or I'd at least find out what happened to him. Mum's cat will be chipped before he's let out.

(We think he got himself locked in next door as he reappeared when they came home. It was the longest 14 hours of my life - I know it's not long but he's a home bod and doesn't go far, especially when we're at home.)

Microchips can only help if someone gets the cat scanned. My microchipped cat is still missing a year on Sad

That's true - so sorry about your cat - but there are still many cats that are found and returned by that means. We've had a good few here on this board and while I've never had a cat returned by one, I have had a dog found. (He was a bolter when young.)

They also operate cat flaps and cat feeders so multi-purpose.

It's horrible but can I also say that if the worst happens to your pet then they can still read the chip (our cat was run over but the vet called us as they scanned for a chip.)
A chipped cat doesn't have to have a collar. Collar injuries can be awful (cats getting a front leg caught through the collar.)

Harry does wear a collar (a quick release one) and he's got a tag that says he's microchipped and has my phone numbers. Probably a bit OTT but i do admit to being a bit very over protective of him!
