Microchip operated cat flap??

The neighbour's cat has decided to come in at night and scare my two cats so I need to prevent him from entering the house.

I have a manual Staywell cat flap. I notice that 2 microchip operated cat flaps appear to be available: the Staywell (Petcare) or the SureFlap.

The Staywell reviews are not great but people seem to think the SureFlap is good.

Does anyone have any experience before I blow a lot of money on one?

It has to be micro-chip operated as my two don't wear collars.

Thank you

We have had a sureflap for the last 4 years- it's fabulous. No issues at all and no unwanted cats. Worth every penny. I spent more on lost collars and magnets.

We have a Petporte one, I think that's now made by Staywell? It's brilliant. One of my cats has forgotten how to use a normal cat flap because he's got used to hearing the click of the lock releasing when he goes up to it. He's not too bright, though!

We have a sure flap for our rescue kitten. It works well and easy to fit. Can choose in or out only as well as both ways.

Great thank you for your opinions. Is the Petporte one a D shaped door? Also is SureFlap only available mail order because I can't see it bring dodo anywhere on the high st

I must do this soon as my poor cats are getting very twitchy waiting girl the neighbours cat yo invade!

I 'think' that the Sureflap is only available online/mail order (so much is these days) but they do seem to have really excellent customer service if that's any reassurance. The Sureflap site itself also has a video on fitting one which, apparently, is very straightforward if you're even a small bit handy.

This is the one that I have. It's shaped just like a normal cat flap, but with a big porch thing outside.

We have the petporte one and have mixed feelings. We have 2 cats, 1 can use it, the other is too stupid to work it out. There is another cat who does come into the house by barging his way through but he is a very cheeky cat, others would probably be put off. My major issue with it, is that we cannot lock our cats out. This would be fine except she-cat likes to bring in live mice at night and drops them outside the kids bedrooms to play with/eat. We now barricade the door to keep her out at night.
We have had a fault with the flap and customer services were great. We had a replacement sent out to us.

We've got a Sureflap, it has 4 settings (open, closed, in only, out only). We got it online but I have seen them in a branch of Pets Corner.

Have bought a SureFlap from our local Jolleyes.

So, after 80, one tube of mastic, an outing of my trustee junior hacksaw and a bag of cat treats, I now have 2 happy cats happily using their new flap.

Excellent. Thank you all.
